Installation Proposal

My proposed installation improves the surrounding site, because it is designed to raise the confidence of the students who view it.

The concept of the artwork is to explore the power of a person, as Antony Gormley did. Gormley's main artworks which influenced me include Capacitor (2001), Another Singularity (2008), and Angel of the North (1998). All of these installations explore the concept of the human identity and its power.  The main idea is a student, holding the power in their hands and collectively, all the students viewing the work hold the power together.

Decks for Deck

I believe that all the decks were as successful as each other, because they all convey a message together to whoever is viewing the decks. Because they are all displayed together, they all have meaning all at once to the viewing audience. Therefore, the repetition of the decks enhances the installation.

I believe that the actual display of these boards would be the most successful method of impacting the Oakhill community, rather than displaying documentations and photographs in the Walsh building. When the decks are displayed outside, the Oakhill community will notice the change and see it more easily. However if walking through the Walsh building, there is art constantly being displayed so they will take less notice of it. When viewing from outside, the audience is able to get a 3D perspective. This is significantly better than a 2D perspective that a photograph offers.
